I continue to submit short stories and poetry for the creative writing challenges online via Vocal.media
presumably for the opportunity to win financial prizes, but more so because it provides me with the perfect kind of writing prompt...
specific yet open-ended, tied to a solid yet low-pressure deadline. The work is often rushed to finish, but that's proved a helpful exercise to generate both writing and art.
